“Sushi in the City”, by Francesca Gavin. |

Many sushi restaurants in the West are loud and fast, filled with conveyor belts and ready-made dishes. Andaz’ Miyako in contrast is a small, dark wood haven which feels completely different. There is something intimate about the space – dark wood minimalist furniture, low lighting, exceptionally attentive staff all exude a quite sense of class. In many ways it feels closer to something in Japan where there’s love and attention in every small detail of serving and dining.
The focus is on classic very well prepared dishes. The sushi simply tastes better than everywhere else – tender, fresher, with a texture that melts in your mouth. There are a far wide range of sashimi including sea bass, mackerel and an array of tuna from Toro (fat belly tuna) to yellow fin. Plus great seaweed salads, sweet tofu dishes and filling bento boxes. Even the small scoops of ice cream (try the chocolate) to finish are presented like perfect jewels.
The City of London`s only Sushi restaurant offering take-outs.
